Climate Change
The workshop was conducted on the 16 July 2024 in communities of Bokoni and Twickenham with SCMAC,CALS and BHRRC the effect of climate change in the mining areas, just energy transitioning and how to report the human rights violation.
The constitution that gorvance the right of the people in terms of section 24 and 27 of property, MPRDA and other law that might apply in order to engage with communities,free prior informed concerns.
The climate change affect communities in a way that they are unable to grow their crops and plough as these affect their ways of farming due to the extreme weather patterns, change of seasons, we saw the important to educating the communities about these main subjects.
Community Trust
The organisation in partnership with UCT(LARC) visited communities in Booysendal mining operation under the theme consultation process and awareness of benefits sharing models, beneficiaries, trustees, administration and financial management of mine initiated projects,accountability and transparency, to really understand the issues and how the mining companies take initiatives on how they account in terms of the community trust and how communities are involved in the trust account, how they benefit and how project are implemented.
